• To Our North Central Community

    To Our North Central Community,

Last week’s storm brought unexpected hardship to many in our region, and we want to acknowledge the struggles you’ve faced. We offer our heartfelt support to those still feeling the effects.

Thanks to the dedication of linemen and women, power was restored to our Petoskey campus on April 2. Since then, we’ve worked hard to restore operations and normalcy. On April 5, we reopened key campus buildings, including the residence halls, gym, and fitness center. Yesterday, April 7, our campus fully reopened.

Unfortunately, classes at our Gaylord and Cheboygan centers remain paused, but we’re hopeful that cleanup will be swift, and we look forward to welcoming students back soon. Our Petoskey facilities team continues clearing debris and assessing storm damage. Faculty are supporting students with flexible options to make up for missed classes. Campus events and lectures are moving forward as planned.

Some other things you should know:

    • The Iron Horse Café is back in action serving hot meals.
    • Hot showers return to the locker rooms in the gym on Wednesday, April 9.
    • The Natural Area was hit very hard, and there are a lot of downed trees and branches. For your safety we are asking visitors not to use the trails until further notice as we assess the damages.

Please call 888-298-6605 with any questions or concerns you may have.

    With appreciation,

    North Central Michigan College
