The Gaylord Area Chamber of Commerce is also hard at work here, partnering to bolster what residents and business owners of this distinct region have built up and supported for decades.

The full-service Chamber of Commerce is about more than festivals and tourism; it is a driving force behind economic growth, community leadership development, legislative advocacy and business consulting services. It provides networking opportunities through events such as Business After Hours, and continued education is available through innovative programs like Leadership Otsego County.

Its work in the community is manifold, as are benefits of Chamber of Commerce membership. The Chamber of Commerce first and foremost promotes its member businesses in publications such as its directory, a comprehensive Web site (www.gaylordchamber.com), social media, and through member-referrals at the Chamber of Commerce office and downtown Information Center.

The  Chamber of Commerce continues its mission to improve the quality of life for its members by encouraging business, industry and educational prosperity.

Coordinating the success of the business community in this popular tourist region of Michigan is no small task. Each year, the Chamber of Commerce staff fields 80,000 phone calls, which provides opportunities for member referrals, and mails out at least 400 relocation kits. Thousands and thousands of visitors flock here, supporting the economy while enjoying Alpenfest, plentiful golf courses, groomed snowmobile trails and many other unique annual events and natural amenities of the Alpine Village.

When it comes to supporting business, the Chamber of Commerce is a partner for success. The staff works closely with city and county governments, the Otsego County Economic Alliance, Downtown Development Authority and state legislators to cultivate an economic climate where business thrives. Its annual Business Expo and the Annual Awards Banquet further connect business owners and the community.

The Chamber of Commerce's presence has been strong and dependable in the Gaylord region and its diligence in supporting business and the economy will make a difference for years to come.
 

Ambassadors for business

Newcomers to the business community are greeted by the Gaylord-area's welcoming committee; the Chamber Ambassadors.

These volunteers work on behalf of the Chamber to meet-and-greet new businesses and Chamber members. They spearhead open houses, ribbon cuttings, plaque presentations and receptions.
