    Huron Pines is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1973 to conserve and enhance Northern Michigan’s natural resources to ensure healthy water, protected places and vibrant communities. In 2025, Huron Pines transferred the 236-acre Elk Run Tract to the Michigan DNR as the latest addition to the Pigeon River Country State Forest, and has reconnected hundreds of river miles throughout the AuSable, Black, Pigeon and Sturgeon river watersheds.
