NCMC CELEBRATES OPENING OF MARTIN JAHN TECHNOLOGY CENTER
New facility expands hands-on education in technology, manufacturing and skilled trades
PETOSKEY, Mich. — North Central Michigan College celebrated the opening of its new Martin Jahn Technology Center on Monday, Aug. 31, bringing together college leaders, students, donors, elected officials, and community partners for a ribbon-cutting and tours of the new facility.
The 11,750-square-foot center expands hands-on learning opportunities in advanced manufacturing, engineering technology and the skilled trades, with dedicated space for programs including welding, CNC machining and HVACR.
“Today’s celebration represents the culmination of thoughtful planning, strong public-private partnerships, and the unwavering support of our elected officials, donors, business leaders, and community members,” said NCMC President David Roland Finley. “Together, you've invested not only in this facility, but in our students, our workforce, and the future of Northern Michigan.”
The new building is the centerpiece of North Central’s $22 million Career and Technical Education Enhancement initiative, the college’s largest campus expansion in more than 50 years. The project also includes a 7,200-square-foot expansion of the Jack and Dorothy Harris Health Education and Science Center to support growing nursing and allied health programs.
The project was made possible through significant state and federal investment, along with private philanthropy through the NCMC Foundation. The Martin Jahn Technology Center is named in recognition of a lead gift from the Martin and Patricia Jahn Foundation.
Classes begin in the new facility this fall.
