Munson Healthcare Announces New Executive Director of Ambulatory Surgery Centers

Gaylord, MI – Munson Healthcare is pleased to announce the appointment of James Pavetto as the new Executive Director of Ambulatory Surgery Centers, effective August 18, 2025. Pavetto will lead the daily operations of the two new Ambulatory Surgery Centers in Cadillac and Gaylord, with both clinical and administrative oversight.

“Having Jim at the helm of our Ambulatory Surgery Centers is a tremendous asset,” said Dr. James Shurlow, General Surgeon at Otsego Memorial Hospital. “His leadership and experience in outpatient surgical care will help us continue to deliver high-quality procedures in a safe, efficient setting. Patients in Cadillac and Gaylord will benefit from expanded access to care close to home, and our surgical teams are excited to collaborate with him to enhance services for our communities.”

Pavetto brings more than 15 years’ experience in healthcare administration and served as the Surgical Center Administrator for the Prescott Outpatient Surgical Center in Prescott, Ariz., for 7 years. Prior to that he was the Practice Administrator for the California Sports and Orthopaedic Institute in Berkeley, Calif. He brings an extensive background in community engagement and building strong, mission-driven teams that exceed performance standards while providing outstanding patient care.

Pavetto earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Hospital Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Hospital Administration from the University of Detroit.

“I am very much looking forward to working with the teams in Cadillac and Gaylord to expand Munson’s outpatient services and meet the needs of patients in those areas,” Pavetto said. “I have been truly impressed by the level of teamwork and dedication here. Born and raised in Royal Oak, Mich., Pavetto is also looking forward to enjoying all the outdoor activities Northern Michigan has to offer.
