Kennel Attendant / Grooming Assistant
Posted: 04/17/2026Friendly, reliable Kennel Attendant / Grooming Assistant to help care for boarding and daycare guests and support the grooming team. Daily duties include feeding, watering, cleaning, guest check-in/out, answering phones and taking reservations, assisting with grooming, and learning basic bathing, nail trims, and group play supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Feed and water dogs and cats according to posted diets and schedules; record feedings.
- Clean and sanitize kennels, runs, litter boxes, bedding, food/water bowls, and common areas.
- Greet clients, check pets in and out, process payments, and confirm reservations.
- Answer phones professionally; take reservations and provide accurate information about services.
- Assist groomers with bathing, drying, brushing, basic styling prep, and handling pets safely.
- Learn and perform basic grooming tasks under supervision: bathing, blow-drying, ear cleaning, and nail trims.
- Supervise and assist with daycare/group play: monitor behavior, separate when necessary, and report any issues.
- Observe and report health concerns, injuries, or behavioral changes to management immediately.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and notify management when restocking is needed.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and animal-handling protocols and complete required cleaning logs.
- Attend trainings and participate in ongoing skill development.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience working with dogs and/or cats desirable but not required; on-the-job training provided.
- Comfortable handling animals of various sizes, temperaments, and energy levels.
- Basic grooming or bathing experience a plus; willingness to learn nail trims and grooming assistance.
- Strong customer-service skills; professional phone manner.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs, stand for long periods, bend, and work in indoor/outdoor conditions.
- Patient, calm, and confident animal handling.
- Good observational skills and attention to detail.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Ability to follow directions and established protocols.
- Fast-paced, sometimes noisy environment with exposure to animal dander, shampoos, and cleaning chemicals.
- Frequent lifting, bending, and repetitive tasks; appropriate PPE and training provided
