Tickets are available for One Water Gathering, an international conference happening Oct. 1-2 in Alpena.
This event brings people from both sides of Lake Huron together to learn, explore, and support a sustainable future for our shared Great Lake. It will be based at Alpena Community College and the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center, with field tours throughout Alpena:- Join a community roundtable and explore how lived experience and place-based knowledge are key to solving challenges around resilience.
- See stormwater solutions in action including rain gardens, an ongoing dune restoration project and new construction of green stormwater infrastructure in Alpena.
- Collect litter during a beach clean-up and contribute to ongoing plastic-pollution research for Lake Huron.
- Help shape a safer and more connected downtown with a walking tour of Alpena.
- Explore fire-aided restoration of a rare limestone glade at Huron Pines' Emily Min Hunt Preserve.
- Widen your perspective, embrace connection and build something bigger with a keynote by Christie Deloria of Tree Spirited Coaching.
- Catch a remote-operated underwater vehicle (ROV) demo and challenge all your new friends to a round of happy-hour Great Lakes trivia.
