Enjoy the 1986 coming-of-age drama, Stand By Me, directed by Rob Reiner and based on Stephen King’s novella The Body, following four 12-year-old boys who hike through the Oregon woods to find the corpse of a missing local teenager. The film will be preceded at 6:45 p.m. with a pre-lecture and a Q&A discussion follows the film. Both the pre-film lecture and post-film discussion will be led by Erick Haight, Professor of Psychology and Humanities at North Central Michigan College. Haight will explore the major themes of Stephen King’s work and the early career of Rob Reiner.
This presentation is presented in partnership with North Central Michigan College and is part of the GLCA’s Next Gen program that presents opportunities for students at all grade levels, pre-kindergarten through college, across all curriculum content areas, and many genres; these opportunities are always offered at no cost to students, educators, or schools, thanks to the generosity of donors.
