3rd Annual HOG Rally

Community Event
Location: Zips 45th Parallel Harley Davidson

The Harley Owners Group (HOG) third annual HOG Rally will begin Thursday with a kick-off party at Zips 45th Parallel Harley Davidson in Gaylord.

Boyne Mountain will be the official site of the rally, but activities and stops will be scattered throughout Northern Michigan, beginning with opening ceremonies in Gaylord.

According to Zips marketing and events coordinator Roberta Keys, the shop is preparing to entertain a large crowd.

“We have talked to the city and have arranged to block off the southbound lane of (South) Wisconsin to make room for the bikes,” she said.

Both Keys and Blotske agree that the fun is not only for HOG members.

“There will be vendor areas, entertainment and plenty to do and see for the general public,” Blotske said.

Live entertainment begins Thursday with Jelly Roll Blues Band from 3 to 6 p.m. and rock ‘n’ roll cover band SRP from 6 to 10 p.m. In addition, a beer tent has been furnished by the Eagles Hall of Gaylord.

During the rest of the weekend, riders will take to the roads with several scenic rides, traveling through Petoskey with a stop at Odawa Casino, Cheboygan, Wolverine and Mackinaw City.

On Saturday, a bike parade will travel from Boyne Mountain to Boyne City. That parade drew more than 500 motorcycles in last year’s rally in Escanaba.
