Coordinating the success of the business community in this popular tourist region of Michigan is no small task. Each year, the Chamber of Commerce staff fields 80,000 phone calls, which provides opportunities for member referrals, and mails out at least 400 relocation kits. Thousands and thousands of visitors flock here, supporting the economy while enjoying Alpenfest, plentiful golf courses, groomed snowmobile trails and many other unique annual events and natural amenities of the Alpine Village.
When it comes to supporting business, the Chamber of Commerce is a partner for success. The staff works closely with city and county governments, the Otsego County Economic Alliance, Downtown Development Authority and state legislators to cultivate an economic climate where business thrives. Its annual Business Expo and the Annual Awards Banquet further connect business owners and the community.

Ambassadors for business
Newcomers to the business community are greeted by the Gaylord-area's welcoming committee; the Chamber Ambassadors.
These volunteers work on behalf of the Chamber to meet-and-greet new businesses and Chamber members. They spearhead open houses, ribbon cuttings, plaque presentations and receptions.

When it comes to promoting the Gaylord region and ensuring visitors and potential new businesses are welcome and informed, the Chamber is readily available in providing a variety of resources.
One obvious outlet is found at 125 S. Otsego Ave., where the Chamber and its sister organizaiton, the Gaylord Area Convention & Tourism Bureau, operate the Information Center. The center is also a spot to purchase tickets for community musicals and to find information on other regional happenings.
Along with dozens of regional brochures providing details on everything from entertainment venues to business directories, the Chamber also is the source for the latest Otsego County demographic data, economic statistics, business-start-up resources and travel information.
